Getting over Thorong La Pass and heading down south again along the west face of the Annapurna Massif and through the prodigious gorge of Gandaki River, the circuit trail takes a surprising turn. You witness the marvelous alpine desert of the Lower Mustang Region. A world of rock, sand, heat and fierce gales amongst the imperious white Himalayan summits.
