In this photo album, you will see a set of pictures I took while wandering around the extensive archeological site of Ancient Pompei. This ancient was notoriously devastated after the 79 AD eruption of Mount Vesuvius and remained for centuries buried under ashes until it was more recently excavated. Due to the volcanic ashes having acted as a preservative, the site of Ancient Pompei is today by far the best example of an ancient city to be found worldwide. Anything, from streets and complete houses with roofs, balconies, and wall-paintings to kitchen utensils and human bodies may be seen preserved intact within the city. Read here my related to Ancient Pompei post.
