The route from Zygovisti to Elati forms one of the northern sections of the Menalon Mountain Trail in Arcadia, Greece, a long-distance hiking route that crosses forests, mountain villages, and varied landscapes in the Peloponnese. This stretch is especially known for its dense fir woods, peaceful atmosphere, and seasonal wildflowers that brighten the forest floor in late spring. Walking here in May offers mild temperatures and fresh greenery, making it one of the most pleasant periods to experience the trail.
This walk marked the first day of our multi-day journey along the Menalon Mountain Trail in May 2026. After driving from Athens, we started in the early afternoon and walked for five to six hours toward Elati. The fir forest stayed with us for much of the route, while patches of May flowers added color along the path. By the time we reached the village, the first stage had settled us into the rhythm of the days ahead.
