A collection of pictures I took in Song Kul, Kyrgyzstan. Browse hundreds of more photo albums from my trips around the world using the submenu above or the Photo Albums Map at the bottom of the page.
Song-Kul is a stunning alpine lake located at an altitude of over 3,000 meters in the Tian Shan mountains. Surrounded by rolling green pastures, the lake is a summer home to Kyrgyz nomadic herders who bring their livestock to graze in the lush, high-altitude meadows. Song-Kul’s remote location makes it a peaceful retreat, offering a glimpse into traditional Kyrgyz life, with travelers often staying in yurts and experiencing the local culture firsthand. The lake is also a popular spot for horse trekking, hiking, and birdwatching, as it hosts a variety of migratory bird species. Its serene, untouched beauty makes Song-Kul one of Kyrgyzstan’s most iconic natural destinations.
