A collection of pictures I took in Fianarantsoa, Madagascar. Browse hundreds of more photo albums from my trips around the world using the submenu above or the Photo Albums Map at the bottom of the page.
Fianarantsoa is one of Madagascar’s largest cities, situated in the central highlands and serving as a cultural, educational, and economic center for the region. The city’s name translates to “Good Education,” reflecting its historical significance as a center for learning and intellectual pursuits. Fianarantsoa’s vibrant markets, colonial architecture, and cultural institutions offer insights into the island’s diverse heritage. Additionally, the city serves as a base for exploring nearby attractions, including national parks, vineyards, and traditional Malagasy villages.
