A collection of pictures I took in Cholpon Ata, Kyrgyzstan. Browse hundreds of more photo albums from my trips around the world using the submenu above or the Photo Albums Map at the bottom of the page.
Cholpon-Ata is a small resort town located on the northern shore of Issyk-Kul Lake, one of the largest alpine lakes in the world. The town is famous for its beautiful beaches, making it a popular summer destination for visitors from across Central Asia. In addition to its lakeside attractions, Cholpon-Ata is home to the famous Petroglyphs Open-Air Museum, featuring thousands of ancient rock carvings scattered across a vast, open field. These carvings, dating back to the Bronze Age, depict scenes of hunting, animals, and religious rituals. Cholpon-Ata offers a blend of relaxation by the lake and a glimpse into Kyrgyzstan’s ancient past.
