A collection of pictures I took in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Browse hundreds of more photo albums from my trips around the world using the submenu above or the Photo Albums Map at the bottom of the page.
Almaty, Kazakhstan’s largest city and former capital, is a vibrant cultural and economic hub nestled at the foothills of the Trans-Ili Alatau mountains. Known for its leafy streets, parks, and mountain views, the city offers a striking contrast between urban life and natural beauty. Almaty is home to landmarks like the Zenkov Cathedral, a colorful wooden church built without nails, and Kok-Tobe Hill, which offers panoramic views of the city and surrounding peaks. The city’s café culture, museums, and vibrant nightlife reflect its modern, cosmopolitan character, while nearby attractions such as the Medeu ice skating rink and Shymbulak ski resort make it a year-round destination for outdoor enthusiasts.
