A collection of pictures I took in Ala Kul, Kyrgyzstan. Browse hundreds of more photo albums from my trips around the world using the submenu above or the Photo Albums Map at the bottom of the page.
Ala-Kul is a breathtaking alpine lake located high in the Terskey Alatau mountains near Karakol. Situated at an elevation of around 3,560 meters, the lake is known for its striking turquoise waters, which are framed by rugged, snow-capped peaks. Trekking to Ala-Kul is one of the most popular hiking routes in Kyrgyzstan, often done over several days, with hikers passing through lush valleys, hot springs, and high-altitude passes. The lake itself is a pristine wilderness spot, and its remote, serene location offers an unforgettable experience for those who reach it. Ala-Kul’s dramatic setting makes it a must-see for adventurous travelers.
