Leticia is a remote river port city in southern Colombia, set on the banks of the Amazon River at the tri-border with Peru and Brazil. As the capital of Colombia’s Amazonas department, it serves as the main gateway to the surrounding rainforest. The town blends urban life with dense jungle, and its public spaces, small museums, and riverfront define its character. Leticia is known for its proximity to biodiversity hotspots and its role in Amazon river transport and trade.
We stayed here for five days in February 2026. During breaks from rain, we walked through the town and along the Amazon waterfront, moving between Parque Santander, Parque Natalia Guzman, and Parque Orellana. We stopped at the ethnographic museum and climbed to the top of the church clocktower for a wide view. I took photos day and night as we passed through streets and parks.
