La Barra is a small Pacific coast settlement near Bahía Málaga, known for its long tidal beaches, scattered wooden buildings, and isolation between rainforest and ocean. Much of the coastline opens widely during low tide, exposing large stretches of wet sand crossed by shallow streams and tracks left by vehicles moving between villages. Under strong daylight the landscape feels exposed and expansive, with little separation between sea, sky, and beach.
We visited La Barra in March 2026 during our stay in nearby Ladrilleros. The light was harsh through midday and early afternoon, but the beach still offered wide open scenes for photography. We walked along the shore, took pictures of the coastline and village, and spent some time flying our drone above the beach and tidal patterns.
