After five days in Posadas, which included a day trip to Paraguay’s Jesuit ruins of La Trinidad de Paraná, it was time to continue our South American trip to the majestic Waterfalls of Iguazú.
Several buses run daily from Posadas to Puerto Iguazú, the entry city to the waterfalls on the Argentinian side. Most are operated by the Río Uruguay company. While night buses were also available, this time we chose to travel during the day. We booked a 7 a.m. bus through this site. During our trip in 2025, tickets for all buses cost €17.
The bus terminal in Posadas is located here, about 6 km south of the city center. An Uber took us there in 10 minutes from the apartment we rented near the northern promenade. After a quick breakfast at the station canteen, we boarded the comfortable bus and hit the road.
The countryside blurred past under a steady curtain of rain—lush green fields, distant ridges of forest, and the occasional cattle ranch. The mist brought the landscape alive, each drop adding depth and mood to what might’ve been a mundane stretch of road.
The trip was supposed to last five hours, arriving at exactly midday if on schedule. We arrived an hour late, at 13:00. The bus terminal in Puerto Iguazú is located here, right in the city center. The rain was taking a break. We took advantage of the dry spell and rushed to our lovely yet economical lodge. We took it easy until the sun reappeared gloriously the next morning to accompany our visit to the magnificent waterfalls.
