Esperanza is a small Andean village in northern Ecuador, located a short distance from Ibarra at the foot of Imbabura Volcano. Surrounded by farmland and mountain scenery, the village offers a quiet contrast to the nearby city and serves as a convenient base for exploring the region. Its peaceful streets and rural setting reflect everyday life in the Ecuadorian highlands, making it an appealing stop for travelers seeking a slower pace before heading into the mountains.
We stayed in Esperanza for a few nights while traveling through Ecuador, basing ourselves at Refugio Terra Esperanza and using the village as our starting point for climbing Imbabura Volcano. The photographs include just a few views of the quiet village, capturing its calm streets and simple surroundings between our time in the mountains. Those moments provided a peaceful pause before and after the climb, adding a different perspective to our journey through the northern Andes.
