Bucaramanga, Santander, Colombia (2026) – Photos

Bucaramanga is the capital of Santander in northeastern Colombia, known as the “City of Parks” for its network of green spaces spread across a modern urban setting. Perched on a plateau above the Río de Oro, it serves as a gateway to the Chicamocha Canyon and surrounding Andean landscapes. The city blends commercial districts with quieter residential neighborhoods like Barrio El Prado, where tree-lined streets and mid-century homes reflect a more relaxed side of Bucaramanga, contrasting with its busy center and regional transport hubs.

We stayed for two days and used Bucaramanga as a base for a bike trip into the Chicamocha Canyon. We planned to spend the other day exploring the city, but rain set in and stayed for most of the day. We kept to short walks around Barrio El Prado, moving between streets near where we stayed.
