Delphi, one of the most important archaeological sites of ancient Greece, is easily reached from Athens by bus. There are multiple routes daily, and the journey takes around 2.5 hours. Although I’d recommend you spend at least one night to fully enjoy the area’s renowned mystical aura, it is perfectly doable to visit Delphi on a day trip by public transport, starting early in the morning and returning by evening. Below you’ll find everything you need to know about the trip. But if you want some more convenience, consider joining a guided tour from Athens instead.

Buses to Delphi leave from Liosion Bus Terminal (location), which is easily reached from Kato Patisia or Agios Nikolaos green-line metro stations, or via the X93 airport bus.

The journey takes approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes, and a one-way ticket costs €16.50, with discounts available if you purchase a return trip. Tickets can be bought at the station or online at the bus company’s official website—search for “Delfi” (with an F) if you book online. All buses stop at the Delphi bus terminal (location), which is situated at the beginning of the village, a 5-minute walk from the Museum and the archeological site. Some buses also stop directly at the Delphi Museum—when booking online, search for “Mouseio Delfwn”. At the time of writing (June 2025), the timetable is as follows.
