This guide provides clear, current, and practical instructions on reaching KTEL Liosion Bus Terminal from Athens International Airport. Liosion serves many northern and central Greek regions and is smaller than Kifissos, but just as easy to access.
Athens International Airport (Eleftherios Venizelos) lies 39 km from KTEL Liosion. You can get there by direct bus, metro, or taxi/private transfer. The airport bus is the most economical choice and requires no transfers. The metro option involves a 10-minute walk. Taxis and private transfers are the fastest and most straightforward, especially early in the morning or late at night, or if you need to make a specific regional bus departure.

From Athens Airport to Liosion Bus Station by taxi or private transfer
Taxis charge a fixed airport fare for all destinations within the Athens ring road. As of November 2025, the official rate is €40 during the day (05:00–00:00) and €55 at night (00:00–05:00). The latest fare table can be checked here. Taxi stands sit directly outside Exit 3 of the arrivals area, with the familiar yellow cabs lined up in sequence.
Depending on traffic, the ride to KTEL Liosion usually takes 30–55 minutes. Confirm the flat rate before getting in; occasional attempts at overcharging still occur.
A taxi is the most convenient option, particularly if you’re travelling in a small group or carrying luggage that’s inconvenient to move through central stations. For larger groups or travellers who prefer a pre-arranged pickup and guaranteed English-speaking drivers, booking a private transfer is worth considering.
From Athens Airport to Liosion Bus Station by bus (direct airport bus)
This is the simplest and cheapest way to get to Liosion Bus Station.
The X93 Airport Express Bus links Athens Airport with both KTEL Liosion and KTEL Kifissos. Liosion is the first major stop; Kifissos is the final one. The stop at the airport is just outside the arrivals level, between Exits 4 and 5.
Buses leave approximately every 30–40 minutes, and the ride to Liosion usually takes around 35–55 minutes depending on the time of day. The ticket costs €6 (or €3 for eligible reduced-fare passengers). Tickets are sold at the kiosk beside the bus stop or directly from the driver.
Mind you that the bus station isn’t visible from the bus stop. The bus will drop you off on the main road, one block (a minute’s walk) from the terminal. Make sure you don’t miss it, as the bus continues toward Kifissos Station. This is the exact location of the Liosion terminal, and this is where you get off the bus. You can also ask the driver to notify you.

From Athens Airport to Liosion Bus Station by train
You can also reach KTEL Liosion by metro and a short walk. Take Metro Line 3 (Blue Line) from the airport toward the city and ride all the way to Monastiraki. From there, continue by Metro Line 1 (Green Line) to Agios Nikolaos. The station sits about 10 minutes on foot from the Liosion terminal, following a straightforward route through a regular residential area.
The airport metro ticket costs €10, with a reduced €5 option for minors (6–18), students under 25, and seniors 65+. Children under 6 travel free. Tickets are available at the machines and staffed counters inside the airport station.
This method is practical if you prefer staying on the metro network and don’t want to rely on buses. Keep an eye on your belongings around Monastiraki, which is usually busy.
