Here you will find comprehensive, concise, up-to-date instructions on how to get from the Athens International Airport directly to KTEL Kifissos Bus Terminal, the main long-distance bus station serving much of mainland Greece.
The Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport, the only international airport of Athens, sits about 42 km east of KTEL Kifissos. Getting there is straightforward by either bus, train + bus, taxi, or private transfer. The cheapest and simplest option is the direct airport bus. Train connections require one transfer but are easy enough at non-peak hours. Taxis and private transfers are the fastest and most comfortable method, especially if you’re carrying heavy luggage or catching an urgent KTEL departure.

From Athens Airport to Kifissos Bus Station by taxi or private transfer
Taxis charge a standard flat fare from the airport to anywhere within Athens’ ring road. As of November 2025, the fare is €40 during daytime (05:00–00:00) and €55 during nighttime (00:00–05:00). You may check the official list of airport taxi fares here in case rates have changed. Taxis wait outside Exit 3 of the arrivals hall. They are always yellow with illuminated taxi signs.
The ride to KTEL Kifissos Bus Station typically takes 35–60 minutes, depending on traffic. Always confirm the flat fare before boarding; overcharging still happens occasionally.
A taxi is the quickest and most comfortable option, especially if you’re a group of 3–4 or carrying bulky luggage. It also removes the risk of missing your long-distance bus due to a late local connection.
For added comfort, guaranteed English-speaking drivers, meet-and-greet service, or oversized vehicles for large groups, you may also consider booking a private transfer in advance.
From Athens Airport to Kifissos Bus Station by bus (direct airport bus)
This is the simplest and cheapest method.
The X93 Airport Express Bus runs 24/7 between Athens Airport and KTEL Kifissos. It also connects to KTEL Liosion, so make sure you get off at the correct terminal. Kifissos is the last stop. The bus stop is located in front of the arrivals hall, between exits 4 and 5.
Buses depart roughly every 30–40 minutes, with an average travel time of 45–65 minutes, depending on the time of day (find exact schedule below). A full one-way ticket costs €6 (or €3 reduced fares for children, students, and seniors). You can buy it either at the airport’s bus kiosk next to the bus stop or directly onboard.
Once you arrive at KTEL Kifissos, follow the overhead signs to the departures hall. The station is large but easy to navigate: ticket counters and information boards line the central hall, and platforms are clearly numbered by destination region.

From Athens Airport to Kifissos Bus Station by train (with transfer)
There is no direct train from the airport to Kifissos. You’ll need one transfer, but the process is simple.
Take Metro Line 3 (Blue Line) from the airport to Monastiraki, change to the Red Line, and ride one stop to Omonoia. From Omonoia, continue by Bus 051 (bus stop location), which goes directly to Kifissos Bus Terminal.
The airport-to-city train ticket costs €10 one way. Reduced fares: €5 for minors (6–18), students under 25, and seniors 65+. Under 6 travel free. You can buy tickets at the counters or the automatic machines inside the airport station hall.
Be mindful of pickpockets on metro trains and platforms, especially at Omonoia and Monastiraki.
This option makes sense only if you’re already planning to enter the metro system for other reasons or if the direct bus timing isn’t convenient.
