Hello! I’m Dimitrios and this blog is my creativity’s outlet.
About me
I am a random, humble man. Nothing’s too special about me. No noun could follow my name and adequately describe my person, as in “I’m that guy and I’m a such“. I was born in a certain location on Earth, but I don’t feel like a national of any country. I’ve done many different jobs throughout my life, but I don’t have a profession. I’ve always tried to learn the most I can, but I’m not an expert in anything. I daydream pathologically, but I have no grand aspirations.
If I had to define one force that has been my life’s paramount impulsion and the center of my existence, that would be my curiosity. Entities have always perplexed me. An irresistible desire to comprehend them has burnt my spirit since I remember myself. I’d like to know everything that’s knowable; do everything that’s doable; be everywhere there is to be. I admit I’d like to be a god. But I’m only a human.
I was born in 1987 on the outskirts of Athens and grew up in Chalkis, the capital city of Euboea, the second-largest Greek island. Throughout my childhood, I was principally concerned with having fun. No complaint, I had lots of it. I never liked school much. Taking great pains, I graduated from secondary school and quit my formal education. To this day, I consider that decision one of the wisest I ever made. It opened a springboard for a great leap to freedom.
Narrating my life’s subsequent events would be a complicated and extensive endeavor. What I can say here is that, surrendering to the guidance of intuition and the whims of emotion, I set out roving haphazardly around the world, seeking adventures and excitement. Going through my fourth decade now, I’m still concerned with having fun.
As an author
Writing is my most beloved means of creative expression. Among a miscellany of short stories, articles, and poetry, I have so far written and self-published five books.
- Tainting Passions (EN) – a dark, dramatic, new adult novel revolving around themes such as heroin addiction, prostitution, desperation, and nihilism.
- Real Stories of Real People (EN) – a short-stories collection of some of the most bizarre, inspiring, funny, or anyhow remarkable characters I’ve chanced to encounter throughout my extensive wanderings around the world.
- Backpacking Iraq (EN) – a short travelogue about my backpacking adventures in Iraq and Iraqi Kurdistan.
- Backpacking Lebanon (EN) – a short travelogue about my month-long backpacking trip throughout Lebanon.
- From Cape Town To Alexandria (GR) – an extensive travelogue recounting my personal experiences throughout an overland trip across the African continent.
As a traveler
I have been an avid traveler/adventurer since my teens and have lived nomadically for most of my adult life. I so far have been in about half of all countries on 4 continents. I indulge in interacting with the Earth’s cultures and exploring its wilderness. I share my globetrotting experiences in the website’s “My Travel Stories” section.
As a photographer
Photography is another principal field of my creative expression. I habitually experiment with photographing various subjects during my trips. I publish my complete collection, comprised of tens of thousands of pictures, in the website’s “Photography” section. Expect my work to be better the more recent it is.
As a musician
Among other instruments with less skill, I principally play the guitar. My nomadic lifestyle has never allowed me to participate in a serious band, but I’ve embraced every opportunity to jam with musicians around the world and take the odd bar gig. During the last few years that I’ve been in the process of establishing a seasonal base, I’ve also begun setting up a makeshift studio to channel my musical experimentations. I so far have released 18 singles that you can listen to in the website’s “My Music” section or on Spotify.
About this website
This isn’t a niche website. To describe it as a personal blog would be more befitting, but what I think defines it best is an outlet for my creativity. Like most of us I believe, I enjoy creating; ransacking my mind for abstract ideas and striving to transform them into essence. Hence I here post whatever comes to my head.
