Having spent the first and the second night camping in Khao Sam Roi Yot and Kui Buri national parks respectively, for the third night of this motorbike trip, we decided to head to Pran Buri Lake.
Stopping by in Pran Buri city to get supplies, we arrived at the lake by late afternoon. I found this lake much more pristine and quiet than what I expected. There was no paved road that approached the shore to viewing distance. We reached the shore via a small dirt road by the lake’s southwestern side. That forked off from the paved road at 12.3967, 99.7575.
Apart from a few scattered farmers’ houses, there was no sign of human civilization to be seen anywhere along the shore; not a single concentrated village. The views of the lush, enveloping hills were soothing to the soul. We found a nice spot in a grove of eucalypti amid a pleasing, wide meadow and pitched the tent.
We spent a lovely afternoon lying on the grass and looking at the greatly diverse birds flying to and fro above the lake. Night fell, the birds retreated to their nests, and we to our tent. The dogs went bonkers throughout the night, raising a ceaseless fuss of barks and howls, but that aside, we had a lovely sleep.
The quiet was reinstated in the morning. We got up early and got to enjoy the serenity of the place in the company of two dogs who were probably the ones who’d licked off our dinner leftovers in the night and were then again staunchly waiting for more. The birds were back in business, too, smoothly gliding over the lake, surveying the surface for their next breakfast bite.
Having enjoyed this placid morning in the utmost, we packed and started on our long way to Pala-U Waterfall which was our last destination for this trip.
