Siquijor Island in the Philippines, among other things, is renowned for its many paradisal waterfalls. We got to visit most of them during our three-week stay there in February 2020. And here I am putting up this guide to the waterfalls you shouldn’t miss while on Siquijor yourselves.
Contents
Cambugahay Falls
Cambugahay Falls is by far the most popular of Siquijor’s waterfalls and probably the most charming. You will most likely find it crowded with people at any time of the day or year you visit. It is easily accessible, a 15-minutes drive away from San Juan. It is the only waterfall in Siquijor which is designated a national park by the Filippino government, thus you have to pay only a minimal entrance fee for its maintenance – in contrast with other ‘paid’ waterfalls where villagers collect fees arbitrarily. It is also the only one which has basic food and drinks facilities. It consists of 5 separate pools with their respective falls. The first pool is equipped with three jumping ropes that make for great fun.

- Rope Jumping: yes (50 pesos)
Lugnason Falls
Lugnason Falls is the second most popular waterfall in Siquijor and the closest one to San Juan. It has a jumping rope of its own and the pool is abutted by a tall vertical rock ideal for cliff jumping. However, during our visit there, in February 2020, the waterfall had mysteriously gone bone-dry, possibly due to the stream having changed its course. I hope you will be lucky to find it full of water again in the future.

Cangbangag Falls
Cangbangag Falls is the tallest and the least known and frequented of Siquijor’s waterfalls. It is situated in a remote location deep in the mountains of central Siquijor. The pool is not as clean as the other ones but it’s fine enough for a dip. The best thing about this waterfall is that you will probably have it all to yourself.

- Entrance Fee: free

- Hiking Distance: ± 30 minutes

Locong Falls
Locong Falls is the lowest along the stream comprising the group of the four last waterfalls in this list. It is close to Cambugahay Falls and Tigbawan Village. It has two pools and a jumping rope, as well as sunbeds and tables with benches. Although you are not technically allowed to do that, it is possible to hike from it to Kawasan Falls in about 30 minutes. We did just that during our visit to avoid to pay the pricey fee and guide for Kawasan Falls.

- Entrance Fee: 50 pesos (donation-based)
- Hiking Distance: ± 10 minutes

Kawasan Falls
Kawasan Falls was probably my favorite among all the waterfalls of Siquijor. It is situated in a secluded spot, hidden amid dense vegetation. It has the deepest of the pools and the coolest of the jumps. You can also use the drop itself as a slide for a dive in the pool. The downside is that the villagers try to compel you to pay a high fee for getting one of them as a guide. We avoided that by hiking there from the neighboring Locong Falls.

- Entrance Fee: 200 pesos (with obligatory guide)
- Hiking Distance: ± 20 minutes

Lagaan Falls
Lagaan Falls is situated just north from Kawasan Falls and it can be reached via a short hike from the road. I didn’t visit this one myself but it looks like good fun judging from the pictures. You can read more about it here.

Cabugsayan Falls
