Tyrnavos is the 5th largest city in the region of Thessaly in Greece. It is located a few km north of the region’s capital, Larissa. It is especially known for the production of Tsipouro and Ouzo (traditional Greek alcoholic spirits) and its unique annual carnival known as Bourani: a phallus worshipping practice which is believed to have originated in the ancient Dionysian Cult. I post here a few pictures I took while on a short visit there.
