It was a hot, midsummer morning in Marche, Italy. It was only the previous day we’d arrived in Italy over from Greece, and we had found shelter at a friend’s place in Belvedere Ostrense village, some way into the hinterland of Marche. The plan for this first day in Italy was to get to that lofty, seaside mountain located right south of Ancona, known as Monte Conero. As the extreme heat was somewhat prohibiting for climbing up the mountain, we chose instead to row along with it. We drove down to one of the beaches of Portonovo, where we found a canoe renting place. You will here see some nice pictures I took while canoeing along the foot of Mount Conero and the various, blessed, secluded beaches lying there. Read here the story of this day
