While I was recently jaunting around the province of Campania in Southern Italy, I happened to be passing by the town of Pompei. Originally, I was intending to spend in this town no more than a couple of days – just as much time I’d need to visit the site of the renown city of ancient Pompei and climb the notorious Vesuvius Volcano. Yet, I ended up extending my stay there a fair good deal, setting this town as my base to explore more of Campania’s beauties in greater range. This was mainly so due to the earnest liking I took to the place I ended up staying at while there, the Agora Hostel.
Saying I just liked that place, I’m rather unjust. I experienced there one of the best stays at a hostel ever and anywhere; and definitely the very best in Italy. The dorm was spacious and tidy. There was a cozy common room with books and board games. And a beautiful, neat garden with a pergola. The hostel’s location is great: in a quiet by-street right beside the town’s central square, and a 3-min walk from the train station. The pricing is, also, very fair for the average of the region.
What made the experience the best, though, is the hostel’s owners themselves. Lorena and Vincenzo are hard-working people. They keep the hostel the two of them alone, hardly ever having the chance to leave the place, which makes it all the more so commendable how they manage to keep their spirits always high. They always have a smile to spare, and they will never omit to greet you each and every time you pass by their sight. And they are extremely helpful, too: always trying with the utmost sincere interest to answer every question and solve every problem you might have.
