Mount Aigaleo is a small mountain defining the west verge of the city of Athens. It reaches a maximum elevation of 469 AMSL. It offers one of the best views available to the entire metropolitan area of Athens and the Saronic Gulf. It has been particularly known in history as the site chosen by the Persian emperor Xerxes to observe the famous battle which took place in the straits of Salamis between the Persian and the Athenian fleets in 480 BC. In this album, you will see the pictures I took while on short a trip traversing the mountain ridge from north to south.
